MAHWAH, N.J. -- Two victims were taken to Hackensack University Medical Center following a crash involving a tractor-trailer and four other vehicles Friday afternoon where Routes 17 and 287 split in Mahwah, police told Daily Voice.
Two advanced life support units and a pediatric emergency crew were among six ambulances initially requested following the pileup, which occurred just after 2:30 p.m., Police Chief James Batelli said.
A doctor also was on scene, he said.
Unconfirmed reports were that the ALS requests were later cancelled.
Although two lanes initially were open, traffic was backed up for miles.
