YOU READ IT HERE FIRST : Ramsey and Ramapo seemed ideal for a Jersey City man to quietly run a prostitution ring that advertised online — until citizens began complaining, authorities said.
Ramsey Police Chief Bryan Gurney said he got several letters, after which detectives from his department and the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office discovered “a large-scale prostitution organization” run by Roland Smith, 42.
“Utilizing Internet advertisements and area hotels, Smith would arrange for encounters,” Gurney told CLIFFVIEW PILOT .
Detectives arrested Smith, who is single, at his Arlington Avenue home and charged him with promoting prostitution, the chief said.
Gurney cited help from the Ramapo Police Department, the Jersey City Police Department, and the United States Postal Inspection Service.
