Mahwah Municipal Alliance Awarded $625,000 Grant

MAHWAH, N.J. — The Mahwah Municipal Alliance is among five coalitions in the state that received a 5-year, $625,000 federal grant to help fight substance abuse among local youngsters.

Funds will help MMA provide community resources, such as leadership and outreach programs.

"This federal grant will allow us to double our efforts in the community," Mayor William Laforet said. "We have established the MMA as the organization dedicated to our core values of Leadership and Helping Kids Make Great decisions."

MMA addresses social issues such as bullying, teenage depression teen age suicide "and ultimately the initiative addressing the plague of teen age drug addiction, heroin addiction," Laforet added. "Saving kids' lives."
