And it's asking its customers and the public at large to join in.

The initiative is called "Bring Change," and folks are invited to drop off their change at the branches – though larger increments are appreciated as well.

"You're welcome to contribute as much as you want," CFA Mahwah site manager Linda Somwaru said, with a smile in her voice.

The Center for Food Action is headquartered in Englewood. It has sites in Fairview, Hackensack, Mahwah, Ridgefield, Ringwood, Saddle Brook and in Paramus, at the Bergen Community College.

The organization provides emergency assistance – like food, shelter and assistance with utilities – but it also provides case management, to connect people with other services and develop longer-term plans to address the issues they are dealing with.

Somwaru said that TD Bank has been a big supporter of CFA for years, "constantly supporting us in the community," through both monetary and food drives. She's personally seen that help at the Mahwah and Ringwood CFA sites.

"We can't do what we do here without partnering with people in the community," she continued.

"We're very fortunate, to have partnerships with the local churches, synagogues and temples; community organizations in our area; and schools. That's what keeps us afloat here."

The Bring Change program is coordinated through the bank's charitable giving arm, the TD Charitable Foundation. The program supports organizations that are making a difference in the communities where the bank operates.

"We're not just any bank," said Ryan Jagrup, a branch manager at the Mahwah location, "we're the human bank."

We pride ourselves on building that deep and personal relationship, not just with our customers, but also the community that we serve. We're excited to be a part of it.

Jagrup added that TD Bank will also be making a donation to CFA of Mahwah.

The drive will run from March 4-10. Here are the participating TD Bank branches:

  • Mahwah – 375 Route 17,
  • Ramsey – 1100 Lake St.,
  • Ramsey – 1 Interstate Shopping Center and
  • Ringwood – 145 Skyline Dr.
