The event will be from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Brandywine Senior Living. Reservations are required.

Topics include:

  • The difference between normal aging and dementia
  • Financial and legal considerations
  • Care options and community resources

The program also includes a light lunch and array of resources.

"Alzheimer's disease is a progressive, degenerative disorder that attacks the brain's nerve cells, resulting in loss of memory, thinking and language skills, and behavioral changes," Laforet said.

"No matter who you are or what your financial situation is, when you're dealing with a parent with Alzheimer's you feel helpless and alone," he said.

Laforet hopes the informational session will help eliminate the stigma of degenerative diseases.
