The incident occurred around 6:45 p.m., Tuesday, when the unidentified 32-year-old woman was hit by a 72-year-old Haverstraw woman as she attempted to cross the roadway, said Officer Peter Walker.

The driver, who was in a 2010 Honda, was traveling northbound on Route 3030 when she hit the woman, Walker said.

When officers arrived, they found the woman lying in the roadway in the area of Route 303 and Brookside Avenue in Valley Cottage.

The driver remained at the scene, Walker added.

After the woman was rushed to the hospital, the roadway was closed for more than three hours for an investigation.

Information was not available Wednesday regarding the medical status of the victim, Walker said.
