Montvale Volleyball Team Plays For Cancer Victim

MONTVALE, N.J. — The Pascack Valley High School Girls Volleyball Team played its Thursday night match in honor of Daryl Palmer, a Montvale mother and pediatrician who lost her battle with cancer on Oct. 22.

Palmer — whose three girls played on the team — every year helped organize the annual Dig Pink Rally that raised more than $34,000 for the Side-Out Foundation.

This year she was too sick to spearhead the eighth annual event, so they played in her honor.

"[Palmer]... saw Dig Pink as the perfect way to help others," Side-Out Foundation said in a blog post.

"Unfortunately, the Pascack Hills High School volleyball program has been touched by cancer many times, and the Dig Pink games seemed the perfect opportunity to both honor and remember loved ones."
