MAHWAH, N.J. — A team of Mahwah High School students placed first out of 12 school districts and were awarded $1,000 in an engineering competition at Ridgewood High School.
Allan Chan, Jacob Davis, Jack Darrow, Robert Khorami, Elise Kronbickler, Kristen Lee, George Oliaynk, Katarina Radisic, and Christopher Rovito particiapted in the Nov. 20 Engineering Tomorrow Challenge under the guidance of STEM teacher Angela Schmalz.
The day featured interactive demonstrations and presentations by high level engineering professionals, providing students with exposure to real world engineering disciplines and the global challenges engineering solutions address. Students were then posed with challenge problems to solve in group settings.
The school districts that competed included Mahwah, Ramsey, Ridgewood, Cedar Grove, Lyndhurst, Hackensack, Fair Lawn, Edison, Holmdel, and Kittatinny Regional, New Providence, and Scotch Plains-Fanwood.
