MAHWAH, N.J. -- Mahwah Senior Alan Abboud has been selected as a candidate to represent New Jersey for application to the U.S. Presidential Scholars program.
Abboud was chosen, along with other New Jersey students, on the basis of his academic achievement and outstanding student accomplishments.
Students have the opportunity to become U.S. Presidential Scholars based on two paths of accomplishment. The majority of the Scholars are selected on the basis of broad academic achievement. Additional students are selected based on their academic and artistic scholarship in the visual arts, the performing arts, or creative writing.
Each year over 3,900 candidates are identified for the academic component of the program, based on having scored exceptionally well on the SAT or the ACT.
At the conclusion of the application process, ten student scholars will be selected to represent New Jersey from the list of identified candidates.
