Sawyer Rosenstein argued that district officials were responsible for his condition because they didn’t comply with New Jersey’s anti-bullying law.

A boy with a history of assaults attacked him on May 12, 2006 at the Eric S. Smith Middle School.

Sawyer, who turned 18 two months ago, began attending Syracuse University after being graduated from Ramsey High School last year.

The former pro actor has done commercials for, among others, Tiger Schulmann’s Karate , and been an “SNL” extra.

A space junkie, he has headed various successful science projects, runs missions at the Lower Hudson Valley Challenger Learning Center in Rockland County near his Ramsey home and contributes to various blogs, including his own. He’s also volunteered as a radio operator for Ramsey’s Office of Emergency Management.

Sawyer hasn’t walked in six years and had spinal fusion in November 2008, just one of more than a dozen surgeries the past several years.

Not that it’s stopped him.

Sawyer today has been following the path of the space shuttle Discovery, which took off from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center at 7 this morning.

It’s just part of what has become an extremely busy and productive life.

“To go from performing card tricks for a DVD to my body playing tricks on me was truly a difficult experience,” he recently wrote. “In the same situation, many others have succumbed to the misery of that experience, and in doing so, have become unable to realize their full potential.

“But I realized that there was still a whole world out there, and that one event, even an event this significant and painful, should not ruin my life.”

“If we got rid of tomorrow, we would be complaining just as much about the next day,” is one of his favorite quotes.

Sawyer has a Twitter account and is a member of the Space Tweep Society.
