A TRIBUTE (PHOTOS): Fallen Army Staff Sgt. Timothy McGill was honored by friends, family, military officials and community members as he was laid to rest today.
“If he could say one thing right now, it would be to take all of this attention off of him,” his sister, Megan McGill, said following a civil ceremony in which McGill was awarded military honors. “Because he was doing his job, and he was doing what he was so passionate about.”
Timothy Raymond McGill, 30 — a lifelong Ramsey resident, volunteer firefighter and member of the borough’s DPW in-between deployments — was killed Sept. 21 by an Afghan who turned his gun on a group of American soldiers during training exercises. McGill was serving as a weapons specialist with the Rhode Island National Guard.
