East Rutherford police and prosecutor’s detectives received information in May 2017 that the victim was endangered by David Brinez, then 41, when he “ingested a controlled dangerous substance in the victim’s presence,” Grewal said Tuesday.
Following additional investigation, detectives obtained an arrest warrant on May 18, the prosecutor said.
Authorities seized him in East Hanover in July 2017 after Brinez had spent nearly two months on the run.
Brinez was sentenced on a drug conviction in Morris County on Jan. 17, 2018 and then on an endangerment conviction in Bergen County a week later, records show.
