Wearing a covering over his face, Tione Davis, 35, of East Orange, fled with an undetermined amount of cash from the register after the 4 a.m. robbery of the Market Street convenience store on Dec. 11, Detective Lt. Robert Bracken said.

No one was injured, he said.

Morris Plains police arrested Davis on Dec. 20, a day after a chase stemming from another crime. They took him to the Morris County Jail, where he remained Wednesday.

Clifton police charged him with robbery, aggravated assault and various weapons charges -- including being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm.

Bracken thanked the prosecutor's offices from Union and Morris counties, along with local police from Morris Plains, Middlesex Borough and Rahway.

"It was a collaborative effort," the lieutenant said.
