Paterson Man Charged With Attempted Murder In Shooting

PATERSON, N.J. -- Paterson police, already having tracked down and charged suspects in a pair of killings, arrested a city man who they said shot another earlier this month.

Criminal Warrant Squad detectives took Boris Capers, 45, into custody on attempted murder and weapons charges after finding him at a Straight Street residence late Tuesday morning, city Police Director Jerry Speziale said.

The 51-year-old victim was shot in the leg in the 100 block of Cedar Street around 10 p.m. April 15, Speziale said. He was later treated at to St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center, the director said.

Detectives Rolando Polio and Edgar Torres of the Ceasefire Unit identified Capers as the shooter and obtained a warrant for his arrest.

A judge ordered Capers held in the Passaic County Jail pending a detention hearing.
