RAMSEY, N.J. -- Ramsey police on Friday issued two sketches that they hope will help crack a pair of street robberies.

The first was on July 25, just before midnight, when a pedestrian was strong-armed by two robbers -- one white, the other black -- on North Island Avenue and Washington Drive.

The victim described the black bandit ( sketch, above left ) as 5-foot-8, about 160 pounds, with a thin build. The white one was described as 5-foot-8 to 5-foot-10, 160 to 170 pounds and slenderly built.

The second holdup, around the same time on Aug. 2 involved two black men, one of whom had a gun, the victim told police.

The gunman ( sketch, above right ) was described as 18 to 25 years old, about 6 feet tall and 150 to 175 pounds, and his accomplice as black, about 6 feet tall, with a muscular build.

Ramsey police urged citizens to "be vigilant and walk with a friend."

They also asked that anyone who saw anything the night or know anything that could help the investigation call them: (201) 327-2400 .
