YOU READ IT HERE FIRST: A 34-year-old Mahwah who works for the “Rent a Husband” handyman service is charged with statutory rape for having sex with a 15-year-old girl.

“The sexual abuse, which is alleged to have occurred in one instance in Mahwah, was initially reported to the Mahwah Police Department who contacted my offic’s Sex Crimes and Child Abuse Unit,” leading to today’s arrest of Federico M. Hernandez, Bergen County Prosecutor John L. Molinelli said late this afternoon.
The single Hernandez, of Reich Avenue, is charged with sexual assault and child endangerment, because of the girl’s age (see below).
His bail is $150,000 cash, pending a court appearance. Hernandez also had to surrender his passport.
LET’S BE CLEAR: Nothing in the law can be more definitive than what constitutes statutory rape: It is a crime that occurs in New Jersey when one of the partners is between 13 and 16 and the other is at least four years older.
