Franklin Lakes Police Officer Shoots Self During Call

FRANKLIN LAKES, N.J. – A Franklin Lakes police officer shot himself while investigating a dog complaint Friday afternoon, authorities said.

“The injury is not life-threatening. Nobody else was injured,” Capt. John Bakelaar said after the incident, which occurred around 2 p.m.

“We are looking into the circumstances,” he said.
