Paul Charles Roberts was pronounced dead at the scene after his 2003 gray GMC Sierra pickup truck left East Shore Road and struck several trees around 2:30 a.m. Saturday, West Milford police told Daily Voice.
“Anyone that knew Paul knew how big of a heart he had and how he would give the shirt off his back to anyone,” states a GoFundMe page created to raise funds for his funeral expenses.
“He would put everyone else before himself and truly impacted many people's lives,” the page states.
The page garnered more than $16,000 in donations by Monday morning.
“Rest in sweetest peace Paul Charles Roberts, you will truly be missed by many,” it states.
In addition, the Sit n Chat Diner in West Milford will be donating 20 percent of proceeds made on Tuesday, August 1 to Roberts' family.
West Milford, police, meanwhile, asked that anyone who might have seen something or has information that could help their investigation of the crash contact them at (973) 728-2800.
