MAHWAH, N.J. – John L. Bidle, 95, of Mahwah, died Friday, Sept. 11.
Born in Hartford, Conn., Bidle lived in Emerson, N.J. for many years before moving to Mahwah 10 years ago.
He served as a captain in the Army during World War II.
He worked as a director for 45 years with the Hartford Insurance Group in New York City and retired in 1991.
He was an active member of St. John’s Memorial Episcopal Church, Ramsey, where he served on the vestry and other committees of the church. He served as a councilman and police commissioner in Emerson, was a member of the Republican Club and volunteered at the Emerson Library. He also volunteered at Pascack Valley Hospital and with Meals on Wheels.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Jean (Thompson) Bidle of Mahwah; his daughter, Lois Browne of Mahwah; and two grandsons.
