Frederick B. Harris, 89 Mahwah Resident

MAHWAH, N.J. – Frederick B. Harris, of Mahwah, died Thursday, April 21. He was 89.

Born and raised in Dover, he was the son of the late Frederick P. and Marion Harris. He graduated from Blair Academy, Dover High School, Upsala College, Montclair University and received a doctorate in political science and economics at the New School for Social Research in New York City. He was a teacher who taught in Dover High School and more recently in Northern Valley Regional High School, Demarest from 1967-88, from which he retired. He also served in the U.S. Army during World War II and the Korean War. He was the member of the NJEA and the Disabled Veterans.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Mary Louise (Ruiz) Harris of Mahwah; and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 10-11:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home, 257 Godwin Ave., Wyckoff. A prayer service will follow at 11:30 a.m. Cremation will be private.
