A 20-inch storm drain pipe under the roadway collapsed along with the surrounding roadway, Mahwah Police Chief James Batelli told Daily Voice shortly after the Thursday incident.

There was no danger to the railroad tracks and trains were operating on a normal schedule, he said.

J. Fletcher Creamer handled the repair work on the stretch known as Ramapo Valley Road.
