The Prisoner of War and American flags above it remain, but with rips and tears.

Daily Voice placed a call to the Ringwood Police Department at 7 p.m.

Community members on Facebook expressed sadness.

"The news that the flag at Cupsaw Beach has been removed not once, but twice deeply troubles us," Democrats O'Keefe, Bolton and Ferretti posted on Facebook.

"More than anything, that flag symbolizes what type of community Ringwood is and will continue to be.

"A community that is diverse and inclusive. A community that watches out for our neighbors even though we may not always agree.

"It also speaks to the resilience of Ringwood’s residents. The Cupsaw members we spoke to assured us that no matter how many times the flag is taken down, another will be raised in its place."
