RAMSEY, N.J.— A weather station that tracks temperature, humidity, windspeed, rainfall and more was installed on top of Borough Hall by the Ramsey Office of Emergency Management and Fire Department on Saturday.
The weather station streams live updates every second to Wunderground and is designed to better inform borough officials and residents of emergency weather situations, OEM Weather Director Stephen Goeller said.
"There is nothing in our lives that affects us on a daily basis more than the weather," Goeller told Daily Voice. "Having a sophisticated system like this helps in preparedness as well as responsiveness."
The weather station can help the National Weather Service since its radars don't pick up all signals, Goeller said.
The OEM is also hoping to install a webcam on top of Borough Hall and purchase a lightening detection system mainly for the pool.
"We make weather preparedness a point in Ramsey," he said.
