Ramapo State Forest Stays Closed After Bear Encounters

MAHWAH, N.J. -- Ramapo Mountain State Forest in Bergen and Passaic counties will remain closed this week after several hikers reported they had encountered a black bear, according to a report in NorthJersey.com.

A bear that wildlife officials think was involved in the incidents was caught and euthanized earlier this week, NorthJersey.com reported. 

Three bear encounters were reported by hikers on Saturday, but no one was harmed, according to NorthJersey.com.
