Mahwah, Ramsey Mayors Talk Mental Health In Allendale

MAHWAH, N.J. — The Northwest Mayors Association is having a closed discussion on mental health awareness on Saturday, March 12 in Allendale.

Official representatives from area municipalities are invited to participate in the discussion to further efforts to bring awareness about mental health issues, including depression, alcoholism and addiction. This event is closed to the public. 

The discussion will take place at Northern Highlands Regional High School Auditorium.

The association is comprised of mayors from Ridgewood, Ho-Ho-Kus, Ramsey, Oakland, Wyckoff, Mahwah, Allendale, Saddle River, Upper Saddle River, Waldwick, Glen Rock and Midland Park. Each town has invited their school superintendent, as well as members of the council, clergy, municipal alliance, board of health, ambulance corps and police department.

Check in and coffee for the event will take place from 7:45–8:15 a.m. Northern Highlands principal Joe Occhino will offer opening words. The program is from runs until 10:30 a.m.

Panelists include Bergen County Prosecutor Gurbir Grewal, Bergen County Sheriff Michael Saudino, Bergen County Det. Sgt. Hector Carter, Bergen County K-9 Unit, and Wyckoff Police Chief Ben Fox.
