The goal of the program is to provide a broad range of social and other activities for residents of all ages who may have been overlooked or excluded by virtue of their special needs because of disabilities or handicaps of any kind, whether visible or not.

There are only two requirements to participate: Compassion and a willingness to help others with special needs enjoy the same quality of life as everyone else.

This program will be developed and managed by a new Commission that will be created by a Township ordinance that is being written and is expected to receive speedy approval.

The Mayor of Ridgewood, Paul Aronsohn, Elected Officials from neighboring communities, and Freeholder Maura DeNicola have all pledged to assist the new commission and to provide guidance based on the successful programs they have created.

Residents with family members having special needs or disabilities could provide invaluable assistance to this initiative.

Residents interested in joining this commission, are asked to send their contact information to the Council President: John Roth jroth@mahwahtwp.org. Or contact the Township Clerk: Kathy Coviello at 201-529-5757, ext.230 or Kcoviello@mahwahtwp.org
