RAMSEY, N.J. — Fifty-five cub scouts from Ramsey's Pack 175 competed in the annual Pinewood Derby Friday night at Hubbard School.

The Pinewood Derby is a scout tradition in which scouts fashion a car from a block of wood and compete against their fellow scouts to see who created the fastest car.

"The whole purpose of the race is to instill pride in what the boys have accomplished by making their car from a block of wood," pack leader Patrick Pacenza told Daily Voice.

"Not everyone went home a winner, but the takeaway from tonight is the effort, skills, teamwork, and creativity the scouts put into their cars."

"Everyone held their heads high and had a great time."
