MAHWAH, N.J.– Ben Kezmarsky of Mahwah is always helping out those in need. So, in his time of need, Assemblywoman Holly Schepisi (R) hopes the local community will give back to her friend.
Kezmarsky is undergoing stem cell transplants in his battle against multiple myeloma.
The rare form of cancer affects the plasma cells and bone marrow, said Schepisi, who created a Go Fund Me page for Kezmarsky.
"Ben and his family face mounting medical expenses and need all of our help," Schepisi wrote. "Ben is one of the most generous people I know and he was very reticent in allowing me to even put this page up on his family's behalf."
Kezmarsky oversees the Mahwah School Foundation.
"Ben does it with a big smile and never wants anything in return," Schepisi said.
The goal is to raise $30,000. In two days, supporters pledged half that total.
