Goren will play Brahms, Mendelssohn, Chopin, Beethoven and other classical composers at 3 p.m.

He also will perform the world premiere of a piece specially written for him by Randall Svane.

Originally from Haifa, Israel, Goren continued his music education at William Paterson University, where he graduated with degrees in both classical and jazz performance. Described as "an evocative journey from shimmering excitement to calm contemplation" by Classical New Jersey, Goren's performances touch the heart and magically transport the imagination of the listener.

He is on the faculty of the music department at Ramapo College of New Jersey, where he teaches piano and theory, and works with various vocal ensembles. He is the founder and artistic director of the Open Door Concert Series at Ramapo College. Now in its fourth season, the series continues to present masterpieces of classical music performed by soloists and ensembles.

Sunday’s program, supported by Channa Mamber Music Memorial Fund, is free and will be followed by coffee and refreshments.

Call the temple at (201) 891-4466 for reservations. Temple Beth Rishon is at 585 Russell Ave.
