“Last minute, we put up another shelf for the bunnies,” said Brody Litton, who works at Meyer’s House of Sweets in the Wyckoff Shopping Center on Wyckoff Avenue.
The homemade chocolate bunnies range in size from handheld treats to 25 pounds.
“We made every single one of them,” said Cris Meyer of Mahwah, who owns the shop with her husband Scott.
Each chocolate rabbit – and chocolate koala, chocolate dog, and chocolate pig – is made using a 200 pound chocolate melt and special molds on the ground floor of the shop.
They are then decorated with M&M’s, jelly beans and other tasty adornments upstairs in the shop.
When asked how many chocolate bunnies they made for Easter, Scott Meyer couldn’t give an exact number, but said, “thousands of bunnies without a doubt.”
The family-run shop has gained popularity since opening in December.
One customer at the shop Thursday said even though her husband works for a big candy company, she was buying her Easter chocolate from Meyer’s House of Sweets.
“I am here buying chocolate and my husband works for Cadbury,” she told the cashier while checking out.
