Agriculture Board: Demarest Farms Patrons May Park On Hillsdale Streets

HILLSDALE, N.J. – Patrons of Demarest Farms in Hillsdale will be permitted to park on borough streets this fall, under a plan approved by the Bergen County Agriculture Development Board, NorthJersey.com reports.

The plan – which allows the farm three years to develop sufficient parking – divides street parking near the farm into four zones, the story says.

This season, overflow parking will be allowed in three zones per weekend, on a rotating basis; next year, it would be cut down to two zones per weekend; then one zone the year after, the story says.

The Borough Council had adopted an ordinance prohibiting parking on 37 nearby streets from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekends and holidays from Aug. 30 through Oct. 30. Council members and Mayor Douglas Frank had said the restrictions were in response to safety concerns raised by police.
